Reebosounds Version von Daantjes Hello hat es aufs neue Mixedtape von Mercedes geschafft! Damit werden Missu und Daantje den Einkommensschnitt ihrer Hörerschaft vervielfacht haben! Der Haken: viel Kohle wird das den beiden nicht eingebracht haben… Oder?
Außerdem finde ich es sehr schön, dass es eine Kombination zweier Omaha-Künstler geschafft hat. Das zeigt, dass unser Anliegen, das Vernetzen, in dieser Welt der Singer-Songwriter-Einzelkämpfer durchaus Früchte tragen kann.

As long as January has not ended, I think it is still OK to wish people happy New Year …and to look back on 2006. So here it is: my favourite Omaha concerts of 2006.
The 1st Omaha concert I saw was at Nürnberg’s Desi in March. From what I remember Reebosound looked and sounded like a natural born rocker desperately in need of drums, a way more powerful PA and crowd surfers. Daantje impressed me a lot with his songs. I never really liked them on MyOwnMusic (no offence meant), but when the CD player finally worked he played Aktentascheman and etwas mit “Fuck, Fuck” (Fetz Braun weiss ich jetzt) I was very impressed.
As a Dutch guy with limited German skills I have difficulty to follow the Nino Nexo songs at the pace that he sings them. But at the concert I liked the power in his performance, the lyrics I eventually got to appreciate on the compilation CD. And there was Tjian. The guy is a natural performer. He clearly loves to play live and entertain people. Even during the Omaha weekend at my place, he just had to play us one song after the other. But what about Gisbert and the Crime Killing Joker Man? Well, I travelled 2000 km to see them so that should say enough about whether or not I liked them in N’berg.

I thought wow he’s playing Knust. Isn’t that the place of where like big bands play? So I caught the train to my favourite city. His band colleague Cäthe started off the evening and at the last songs Gisbert joined. Due to the guitar and additional voice they were very worthy closers. Gisbert had bought a semi-electric and a real Vox for the occasion and I must say: great choice.
Gisbert played rock solid through all of his songs and also played his latest and my favourite song “Ich bin hier, weil Du auch hier bist”. I should not forget to mention that his guitar player was impressive very impressive.
The Crime Killing Joker Man
Boy, were there people at the concert in Freiburg last December. There must have been a 100 people at least and after the concert all cd’s were sold in instants and the guys were signing women’s T-shirts. Was it Martin’s groovy drumming, the smooth bass licks, the German Bright Eyes: Jonas or was it the great songs of Coni? Watch the video’s and judge for yourself.
Of course one cannot review one’s own gigs, but if there’s one that I can at least mention it must be the one at the Live Club in Bamberg a year ago: a very big place if there’s only 5 people to see you…
